Early Christmas Shopping
Avoiding Christmas crowd or Christmas rush is a must in considering Christmas shopping. So the phrase: “Better late than never” just doesn’t apply anymore.
Almost every month of the department stores are having store sales. In addition, if you check the Sunday papers every week, odds are you will find some store offering a sale the following week. So why do we need to wait until Christmas Eve to buy gifts? Perhaps if we knew how much money we could have saved if we had shopped during the year, we would pause and think the concept.
Let’s face it; with the declining economy, companies have to mark up their merchandise – especially during the holidays. Since money is very tight for the average consumer, make it easier on yourself and start Christmas shopping earlier in the year – around spring is a good time.
While there are times when an unexpected guest may arrive for Christmas Eve dinner or someone in your office gave you a gift and you feel you have to reciprocate, the beauty of early shopping is that you can buy several of the same items that are on sale and have them on hand for such an occasion.
Gift cards have become the most popular gift over the last several years. They are easily attainable and can be purchased online, at department stores, electronic stores, nail salons, spas, or even at drug stores. In fact, you can purchase these gift cards in July without worry since they usually have a one year expiration date.
With the price of gas soaring, you can even buy a VISA gift card and give it to a friend or family member to purchase gas. The possibilities are endless, and shopping early not only saves time in the long term, but money as well. This is particularly true if you are on a budget.
Another way you can shop for early Christmas shopping is by shopping online. Some of us prefer this method as you can take your time, find sites that offer great deals, use online coupons, and have the items delivered. Online Shopping is very relaxing and convenient; you don’t need to worry how you will transport them. All you have to do is wrap them at the appropriate time.
Here’s another tip: If you shop on Amazon.com, a great deal is to sign up for their Amazon Prime Program. You pay $79.00 a year and all items purchased over $25.00 are shipped free with two-day shipping as well. They also offer gift cards.
Just always remember to always compare the prices, check for discounts, search for the lowest shipping taxes or free shipping and make sure that what you’ve found can’t be found cheaper anywhere else.
If you want to meet your budget and to save money as well, don’t you think that it is best to start your early Christmas shopping now?
