Learn the Basics about Online Shopping
Have you tried shopping without leaving your home? Am I silly because I ask this query? But no, I’m still in my right sanity. If you haven’t known that shopping while you’re just at home is possible, then keep on reading so that you’ll gain knowledge about shopping via online. Using your Computer and internet connection, you can now start browsing the internet. Look for stores that seem to sell nice items. Help yourself to become familiar with its content. Once you’ve mastered their website, you may purchase products then.
Arguably, once you’ve started shopping via internet, you won’t think of going to department stores anymore. Well, you might still go there because you want to see clothes or items personally. But, think of it. Would you still wait in a long queue when you know you can shop without making yourself exhausted? Especially on holiday seasons (Christmas) when there’s a massive crowd of people in each mall. It is now more practical to purchase an item through the internet.
What are the things that should be taken into consideration while shopping online?
Credit Card
Whether you’re going to purchase one or two or more items, you should only use one credit card. This will enable minimizing your expenses. By the time you receive your credit card bill, pay it as soon as you can so that the interest you’ll be paying won’t increase as time passes by. You can put yourself into mountain of liabilities if you don’t follow this advice.
Social Security Number
Before you can buy an item from a website, you will need to create a username and password. You’ll also be asked to encode your address, telephone number and credit card BUT do not give your social security number when someone asks for it either via online or phone.
Save Username and Password
Remember the username and password you’ve created. If you made several accounts, it would be good if you’d write your username and password and then keep your notes in a safe place. This will help you once you forgot your username or password.
Monthly Change of Password
To ensure your security or to help yourself keep away from hackers, change your password every month. Again, write your password in a notebook or paper and then keep it.
Secured Websites
Ensure that the website has encryption software for security purposes. Renowned companies post this information under their FAQ page or directly on their front page. To add, secured websites will have a URL address that begins with “https” when you reach the page where you provide your credit card information.
Knowing the Company
You should ask for information from the online company. Ask the name, telephone number and address. If they don’t provide such information, do not trust them.
Renowned Sites
To be safer, you may start your online shopping at famous sites such as Amazon.com, Target, Macys, and other stores that you think will do well. Just keep on browsing their sites and see what you can get from it.
Coupon Sites
There are a lot of websites that offer coupons. These coupons contain discounts up to 25%. Surely, it will enable you to save more.
Confirmation emails
Most of the better company websites will send you an email immediately after you’ve made a purchase. The email will be a confirmation of your order, and will list your order as well as the total price. Save the email to your document folder so that you can refer to it later.
Print out the confirmation of your purchase from the website, as well as the confirming email, and place it in a folder so you can check it against your credit card bill. Most companies will actually tell you to “Print” the confirmation page before signing out.
Bookmark the Page
Make sure after you’ve completed your purchase and printed out the confirmation page that you sign out of the site. Sometimes, it’s very easy to forget and the site will remain in your URL history until you delete it. Bookmark the site so that you have it available in your “Favorites Folder” for future use.
Do these tips seem to be difficult to follow? Well, quite. But once you’re already familiar with online shopping and once you’re at ease shopping via internet than waiting in the long queue, I guess you’ll find it a very simple process.
